Consider how much this website has contributed to ideas and communication in our neighborhood.  The same goes for our neighborhood Facebook group.

If the current PIPA and SOPA bills were passed by Congress, this group might become a thing of the past.  Rather than blackout our sites, I’ll just recommend that you check out the following link and take action if you agree.  Better yet, do your own research into the subject.

On the surface these bills look like another attempt by Big Brother to control web content. The bills are actually designed to protect intellectual property such as patents, copyrights, and trademarks from being used free of charge by websites. Photographers, writers, poets, and all creative artist could no longer protect and profit from their own work. We complain about Chinese knocking off American products and inventions, well this would be a case of Americans knocking off American artists. The only thing these bills do is to require that the WEB document that its content is in the public domain, or that the owner on the content is being paid a royalty.
