Sharing: A Friendly Reminder to Everyone About Social Distancing

April 5, 2020

Just a friendly reminder to everyone about social distancing. When I’m out on walks I’ve seen neighbors playing corn hole and touching the same bags, kids from various houses playing together, friends going for walks 6 feet apart. None of this is social distancing. The 6 feet apart is meant for scenarios where it’s impossible to avoid being around other people. Unless you share a bathroom with someone on a daily basis you shouldn’t be playing games or going for walks with them. Indiana had the highest percentage increase of COVID cases last week and the Fort Wayne ICUs are already full of patients. That means when we peak (if people handle social distancing correctly) the hospitals will be moving into other units and eventually into tents, and the staff gets overwhelmed. I know a number of physicians and at-risk people in our neighborhood, we all need to do our part to help them survive this even if it sucks.
